Team WWE wins at SummerSlam by defeating The Nexus in the 7-on-7 Elimination Tag Team Match
Wrestling fans have finally seen the result of the most awaited match of SummerSlam: Team WWE vs. The Nexus. For months, wrestling fans saw The Nexus brutalizing and terrorizing every soul on RAW. The Nexus gave a beating to almost every major wrestling superstar, crew person and great wrestling legends. It was eventually John Cena who stood up to the gruelling and tough challenge and created a team of six wrestlers to fight Nexus at SummerSlam in an elimination match. The final team of The Nexus consisted of Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Skip Sheffield, Justin Gabriel, Michael Tarver, Darren Young and Heath Slater. The final team of WWE consisted of John Cena, Chris Jericho, Edge, R-Truth, John Morrison and the legendary Hall of Famer, Bret “The Hit Man” Hart. The team of WWE was one person short on the day of SummerSlam, as The Great Khali was injured after receiving a beating by The Nexus.
The current United States Champion and the winner of the Money in the Bank Ladder Match, The Miz, walked in to the arena in an arrogant fashion and said that he would save WWE by joining the team against The Nexus. But John Cena astonished everyone when he announced that Daniel Bryan, the former NXT Rookie, would become the 7th member of WWE Team. It was a sight to watch as The Miz felt humiliated since The Miz was Daniel’s pro on NXT Season 1.
Not only The Miz but everyone in the arena was shocked by Daniel’s arrival. Daniel Bryan is a great grappler and has impressed many wrestling pundits during his time in NXT. The biggest shock came to The Nexus, who thought that Daniel Bryan would never come back to WWE. The strategy of The Nexus fell flat on their face as one of their own members had deserted and joined Team WWE. During the confusion in the ring, Daniel Bryan of Team WWE squared off against Darren Young of The Nexus.
The master of grappling techniques humbled Darren Young by trapping him in a vicious submission hold. After some moments of suffering, Darren Young finally tapped out and rolled out of the ring. For the first time, The Nexus was on the losing side in the numbers game as they had only six wrestlers left. John Morrison then entered the match and pinned Justin Gabriel after delivering a high powered Starship-Pain by using the leverage of the top ropes. It was a catastrophic situation for The Nexus, who had only five wrestlers left and they were up against the seven mighty warriors of WWE who were standing united in the face of adversity. The Nexus then changed their strategy and started eliminating the WWE Superstars by disregarding the rules of professional wrestling. The Nexus is infamous for always delivering cheap blows behind the back of the referee. It was one h**l of a match as the wrestlers eliminated each other one after another.
It was John Cena who eliminated the last wrestler from The Nexus. This last wrestler was The Nexus’s leader, the mighty Wade Barrett. John Cena trapped Wade Barrett in the dreaded submission hold called the S.T.F.U. Many great wrestlers like Great Khali, Chris Jericho and Batista have tapped out when John Cena applied the submission hold on them. Wade Barrett was no exception, as he tapped out furiously to avoid the continuous pain and punishment.
After months of carnage and destruction, for the first time The Nexus realized what it means to be on the losing side of the match. Many wrestling fans believe that this defeat will humble The Nexus and will make them respect other veteran WWE wrestling superstars, legends and crew men. However, there are chances that The Nexus members will strike back and take out every wrestler one by one. Nothing can be said for sure until the next wrestling show of Monday Night RAW.
