Team West wins All Stars Game – Volleyball news
Team West had a match with Team East recently in the sixth edition of Russia’s ‘All Stars Game’.
The Russian city of Belgorod hosted the tournament while the venue of the competition was the Cosmos sports hall. The match between the two sides was widely anticipated by the local fans who made their presence felt and showed their support for the teams
through their loud cheers.
By the time that the match had reached its close, Team West had secured a sweeping win over their opponents. Despite the fact that Team East had lost the match in three back-to-back sets, they did not go down without putting up a good fight.
The first set of the match remained close all through with no one sure where the tables would turn until the very end.
However, the coach of the winning side made ample use of the rule that allowed any amount of substitutions per team and replaced players of Team West at strategic times that kept the morale and the energy level of the team up.
However, the match was still tied at 24-24 with both the teams fighting hard for an opening set win and the spectators were on the edge of their seats when finally Team West bagged the frame.
The second set saw a good fight put up by the Team East but they lost steam as the frame reached its close. The third set of the match followed the same pattern as its predecessor and finally the Team West was able to seal the deal on the match at the following
final set scores: 30-28, 25-21 and 25-20.
The player that was able to make his mark by securing the title of top scorer was Pavel Moroz belonging to Team East. Despite being on the losing side, Moroz was able to earn himself and his team a total of 17 points that kept the pressure on the Team West.
On the other hand, the most active player for the Team West was Jochen Schöps who managed to keep things going by scoring a total of 12 points in the entire match.
