Team and Bubbly Jane to battle it out in the Robert G. d**k Memorial Stakes
Team, trained by Christophe Clement, will be trying to secure a victory in her stakes debut, when she competes in the Grade 3, $200,000 Robert G. d**k Memorial Stakes at Delaware Park on 14th July, 2012.
The daughter of Empire Maker seems to be in an incredibly good form, as she triumphed twice this season in her three starts. She will have to work a little harder to take on the 1 3/8 mile track but, it seems that she will be able to do it easily.
Teamed with jockey Joe Bravo, the filly succeeded in an Allowance Optional Claimers race, where she defeated, Namaskara, over 1 1/16 miles and completed the distance in 1 minute and 43.11 seconds.
Foaled by mare Quick Dream, the filly will be teamed with rider Kent J. Desormeaux to leave seven other runners behind. Since, all the runners are carrying 117 pounds; the four-year-old has no particular advantage in terms of weight.
Bubbly Jane, who is owned by Haras Interlagos and, trained by Todd Pletcher, seems to have a lot working in her favour. The Brazilian bred mare has more experience than, Team, and has seen it all. Chances are that she will be hard to beat in this race.
The seven-year-old daughter of Yagli is a turf runner and, that might benefit her since this race will be run on grass as well.
Recently, the mare who is foaled by Built To Last, was the mount for Javier Castellano in the Mohegan Sky Stakes at Belmont Park on 16th June, 2012.
Run over 1 1/16 miles, she tried her best but, managed to finish in second place after the Chad Brown trained, Dealbata. With the exception of this season, the mare has competed in fourteen starts and prevailed six times, finished thrice in second
place and twice as a runner-up.
The d**k Memorial is one of three stakes which, will be held at the venue. The featured event is the Grade 2, $400,000 Delaware Oaks and, the $50,000 Oh Say Stakes has also gained a significant amount of attention.
