Team management the latest target for the highly infuriated http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shivnarine-Chanderpaul-c90073: Cricket News
Discarded West Indian batsman, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, has targeted the team management of the West Indian team after ‘sorting out’ the head of the cricket board, Ernest Hilaire.
Chanderpaul who was axed from the team after the disappointment of the World Cup claims that in the last few months of his international stint he has been forced to play under duress and interference from the team management
during an innings which has greatly affected his performance.
He added that the team management dictated terms to him which was inexplicable for some one who has a wealth of experience at the highest level. Chanderpaul first played for the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/West-Indies-c760 in 1993-94 and ever since has been
the backbone of the middle batsmen line-uporder of the men from the Caribbean, he added that it was under this current regime that he has struggled the most as unlike previous managements the current one steps over the line at times.
"I think, given the opportunity, I might have got bigger scores. Every time I settled in and started to get runs, messages would come telling what to do and what not to do, how to bat and how not to bat," Chanderpaul said. "I've
been doing it for 17 years. When http://www.senore.com/Cricket/John-Dyson-c67699 was coach he never said anything to me. When Bennett King was coach he said, 'You go and do your job, we don't have to tell you what to do.' I had no problem then”.
He added that his concentration is affected by the intrusion of the management at crucial periods of his batting stints. He also revealed that senior players are asked to justify their actions on the field in pro-long meetings
where the management endorses its point of view and accepts the players to follow suit.
"Now we have people here, who are telling me how to bat. And when the game is over, I have to answer questions. I have to answer those questions and when I do, and it's not suitable, then I have to agree with whatever answers
they want before the meeting is over”.
Chanderpaul also stated that the attitude of the management and being asked to attend meetings every day, or every other day, spending hours answering questions is not what makes a team perform.
The Guyanese left-handed batsman with a tally of more than 9000 test runs at an average of nearly 49 runs per innings added that the policies of the management have let the team down time and again and put them in the tricky situation
that they find themselves in.
He concluded that he has been enduring a wretched time off late and if things don’t take a positive turn in the next few days he might be forced to consider other option, on the other hand there are reports emanating from the
West Indian Cricket Board that Chanderpaul is being considered for selection for the two match Test series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 that starts on May 12, at Guyana.
Chanderpaul has been a stalwart with the bat for his team and his presence is set to bolster the batting that has thus far struggled to get on top of the Pakistani spin attack, however the question remains does he have the motivation
to answer his critics and secondly how he would deal with the team management that he has accused of ill-doing so openly.
