Why is Team USA Basket Ball gloating about "you know we be duhh bess in da worll", when you consider the following:

1) Spain's best player left the game due to injury.

2) Spain does not have nearly the talent pool nor the deep social tradition that Basket Ball has in the US.

3) the level of emotional anguish, embarrassment & psychological distraction that the Spanish team experienced over the "slant eye" incident DURING the olympics.

4) and even though, given the above (not to mention lots of other environmental factors), the US nearly got beaten by Spain!

Therefore, do you really think the "we is duhh bess in duhh Wirl" attitude is really called for by the Team USA Basket Ball players ??

Tradition or not, Spain has a good national basketball team. Just because their history doesn&#039;t run as deep as the United States&#039; does, doesn&#039;t mean they aren&#039;t capable to win in an age where basketball may very well have surpassed soccer as the most popular worldwide sport. The United States is still the big brother to the rest of the world in basketball, but they are no longer looked at in fear before tip-off even happens. Therefore, the United States CAN stake their claim as the best in the world, because they took back what should rightfully be theirs - a gold medal. And in doing so, they beat Greece, who knocked them out in the World Championships in 2006, they beat Argentina, who prevented them from getting to the Gold Medal Game in Athens, and they beat Spain twice, one of the powerhouse countries in basketball now, who won the aforementioned World Championships. Team USA has officially redeemed itself, and USA basketball fans (and people who follow the Olympics in general) have a right to be proud of them, and the team has a right to be proud of themselves.
