  1. My short answer is: No, there is no "best player" on any team.

Setters are the soul of a team. It is easy to find a lot of hitters, but it is harder to find good setters. Coach would have to set up their game plan based on what kind of setters they have... but setter does not have to be the "best player" on a team.

As the matter of fact, there is no "best player" in any team sport. You can say Shaq and Yao Ming are best centers in NBA, but you cannot say they are the best players. They still have to rely on teammates' support, and create scoring opportunity for teammates. Each position needs different specialty to meet different challenge.

Being chosen as setters means they are the center of your future plan throughout the season. Your coach will have to pair up hitters with setters for different play options, and figure out all rotations based on who will be the setter when starting a game.

    Hope this helps.

  2. no, that just means that they're better setters.

  3. Sorry, but usually the setters *are* both the best athletes and the best skilled players on the court. Since the setter touches the ball every volley (but a non-setter may not touch a ball for many rallies in a row), the best player is usually chosen as the setter even if it means sacrificing the best hitter.

  4. Being chosen as setters means that they can set better than anyone else on the team... Setters are very important, no one could hit without them, but they are not the only important ones on the team. Only the setter's positions were posted probably because everyone else will be a hitter, but it takes a little time to figure out if you should be middle, outside, or back hitter.

  5. NO. Not at all setters are just there to set it to the middle and left outside so they can spike it over.  They are not the best players at all they are just the same as u but they sort of have an easier job.  I play volleyball 2.  Good Luck.

  6. No Not really. All positions are important in volleyball. You cant have a good set without a good pass in. And you cant have a good spike without a good hit. I am a setter and it is my favourite position Because i am short but i have strength in my arms and im speedy. But i cant jump high so It is right for me. I also pass backcourt which i am also good at, Find what your good at and practice it. so you can do the best in the position your in. Your coaches should know were that should be.

  7. no it does not mean they're the best overall, but they are the best at setting. u have to have good setters or the ref will call a double on you everytime

  8. No! setting has nothing to do with you volleyball abilities. (most of the time,  setters are also weak hitters) Everyone is made for a certain position to do certain things. Every position on the cout is equal to one another. For Example, you need good passers on your team to get the ball up, good setters to spot your hitters, good hitters to attack the ball, and good blockers to prevent an attack.

    Its all about the "TEAMWORK"

  9. NO,,

that doesnt mean they are the best.

Every one on your team is obviouslly good enough to be on the team..

maybe they are the best at setting..because setting is important..but that doesnt make them better than every other person on your team!

[[trust me I play school volleyball 2nd year]]

  10. It could be that they are the best players.  However, I would not bet on it being the case here.  It does mean that they are the best setters.
