Teams fancied for the pocket-sized World T20 2012 - Part 2 - Opinion
Along with the Calypso Kings, the Pakistan cricket team would be another outfit that would be among the favourites this time around. Their unpredictable nature has historically been the antidote for success in various tournaments and their performances in
previous T20 World Cups would make them top contenders for this year’s edition. Pakistan were finalists twice in the ICC World T20 and became champions of the 2009 edition, which was held in the UK. That tournament was perhaps the best example of what a side
such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/New-Zealand-c754 for a paltry
99 in a must win quarterfinal at the Oval. Players such as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 and Sri Lanka in the semi finals and finals
to win the trophy for the first time. The trend in that tournament is perhaps indicative that Pakistan cricket could swirl and twirl, like an unpredictable gale. Their strength over the years however, has been their three-pronged spin attack. Bowlers such
as http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Saeed-Ajmal-c87859 had been ranked amongst the best T20 bowlers of all time, and on the decimated tracks of Sri Lanka, one could bank upon them to perform exceedingly well. Pakistan has also had the ability to acclimatize to the conditions
which is an added advantage over other sides. They had just concluded a fully fledged tour of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 and many of their players are currently playing in the Sri Lanka Premier League as well. In light of all this, only a fool would write off Pakistan.
The surprise package however, could well and truly be Bangladesh this time around. The fact that they were ranked fourth in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 T20 rankings for teams is a product of a consistent string of performances that the Tigers had managed to put in, in recent
times. Bangladesh has also enjoyed considerable success in the ODI arena of late, which has been supplemented by their recent stint in the Bangladesh Premier League of 2012. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 has benefitted from some diabolical players at their disposal such as Nasir
Hossain, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Shakib-Al-Hasan-c89559 could prove to be a handful. Bangladesh could easily be written
off by those who are audacious enough to do so, but there is no disputing the fact that this set of 11 players is almost bound to perform well in light of their recent form. Their Asia Cup success adds to their advantage of playing in conditions which are
similar in many ways to Sri Lanka and they would bank upon their collective team effort to pull off something quite special in September.
These three teams are possibly the most inconsistent outfits in world cricket today. Yet their recent form, along with a penchant for succeeding will make them the most fancied cricket teams in this year’s ICC World T20 in Sri Lanka.
