Formula 1 teams not pleased with 2012 calendar – Formula 1 news
Formula 1 teams have recently revealed their dissatisfaction regarding the 2012 calendar.
They have stated that they are not happy with the schedule as a result of which it is believed that another revised version of the 2012 Formula 1 calendar will be released soon.
The teams’ main concern is that the schedule would require a lot of hectic travelling with back-to-back race weekends. That is something they do not want to go through keeping in mind that there are going to be 20 races in the 2012 Formula 1 season which
is already going to take their time throughout the weekend.
According to a recent report revealed by Autosport.com, the Formula 1 Teams Association wrote to Bernie Ecclestone, the chief of Formula 1 Management and the president of the International Automobile Federation (FIA) Jean Todt regarding this matter. They
said the schedule is not in line with the Concorde Agreement.
“There is a process for the validation of the calendar, especially with more flyaways, and we will be involved in this because there is a cost issue. There are different proposals at the moment, but it is not so easy to move one date,” FOTA vice-chairman
Eric Boullier told Autosport.
Bernie Ecclestone on the other hand replied to these reports stating that the teams should be thankful to the management for getting them these races.
“They don't have to go if they don't want to, then they should go to the police … they're lucky we've got races. Otherwise they'd all go out of business,” he said.
It is believed that 11 out of the 20 races scheduled for the 2012 Formula 1 season have been labeled as flyaways which means that they are just making things hectic for the teams in every way.
The final three races of the 2012 Formula 1 season will take place in three different continents and preparing for each race in a limited amount of time keeping in mind the long travelling time is going to make things extremely difficult for the teams of
the sport.
