Teams set to begin Spring Training season – MLB Update
For the followers and fans of Major League Baseball, February 25, 2011 marks the beginning of Spring Training.
All the rivalries from the past season will carry over to Spring Training as teams consisting of new players and even quite possibly new management will face off before the regular season begins on March 31, 2011. With so much happening during the off-season
in MLB, the teams finally get a chance to try out their different strategies and evaluate player performances.
Many top tier teams take the opportunity during Spring Training to gauge their performance and finalise both batting and pitching line-ups. New coaches, managers, players and plans will be tested during Spring Training. Each team will be looking to win as
many games as possible during the session to build up some good winning momentum to carry them into the grueling regular season.
The response from fans during Spring Training is growing each year and the teams are recognising the importance of this. Many players that were injured during the end of the regular season last year start to make their way back into fitness during the spring
session. For many fans Spring Training is a bonus session to be able to watch and follow players that may not be seen regularly during the season. Many young talented players getting to grips with the attention and the competitiveness of the Major League get
an opportunity to shine and make a positive impression for a possible starting position in the final roster.
Even team-mates compete with each other as they try hard to get in consistent performances and lock-in a place in the line-up for the regular season. Most of the top teams like the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals
and many others get the opportunity to show off their offseason buying power with expensive players and big name stars packing their line-ups.
Many big name trades and free-agents that are acquired during the offseason are seen for the first time wearing their new team’s jersey.
San Francisco Giants’ Manager Bruce Bochy commented on his team and said, "I think they are just excited to be back here. They had a great year last year, had a great time together. They enjoy playing together. They are excited to be back on the field."
The excitement is beginning to build as the teams are gearing up for a thrilling Spring Training session. The fans will finally get a taste of some baseball as the regular season will soon begin and the competition becomes fierce. Most teams will be looking
to put in decent performances during Spring Training to work out their final rotations and line-ups before the regular season starts.
