Psalm 14:1 (kjv)

The fool has said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good.

Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.

Psalm 44:21

Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

I dont see how this is a blanket for all atheists, anymore than I can see how this excludes all christians...huge loophole:

ALL thier works are abominable, and they do NO good.

Who knows the heart? The secret hidden places of the heart of man any better than God?

Yet many Athiests are descent moral loving giving people..who do ALL good works...and yet there are christians who do NO good...and all thier works are abominable.

I would love to hear your thoughts on this.??

Do our fruits "works", represent the true inner heart?

  1. From God's point of view, NOTHING that we do is "good", because good implies perfect.

Rather than bore you with scriptures that you won't read anyway, just take my word for it that the Christian Bible says that only God is "good", and no one else. Everyone else is imperfect, and therefore needs God's forgiveness in order to enter Heaven.

    [edit]

What shall we conclude then? Are we any better? Not at all! We have already made the charge that Jews and Gentiles alike are all under sin. As it is written:

       "There is no one righteous, not even one;

there is no one who understands,

          no one who seeks God.

    All have turned away,

          they have together become worthless;

there is no one who does good,

          not even one."

    ~Romans 3:9-12 (NIV)

    there are mine

  3. Here’s how God looks at this ...

I love you so much I sent my Son to pay the full price for all your sins, even the ones you’ve yet to commit. Do you love me? Then show it by trusting in my Son. If you do that then I will make you, a sinner, righteous in my eyes.

It’s nice that you do good things for your fellow man. But no amount of good works will get you into my kingdom. And that’s what I care about most. You spending eternity with Me.

Those Christians who do evil? Do you know for certain they are who they say they are? No you do not. So do not act on presumption. And do not be mindful of what others do. Look at yourself. Do you live up to My standards? That’s all that matters.

Do good in this world and you will be rewarded in this world. Trust in My Son for your salvation and you will be rewarded in the next world.

  4. Psalm 14:1 tells us the true atheist is either foolish or wicked--foolish because he ignores the evidence that God exists or wicked because he refuses to live by God's truths.  You don't want to rely of God for anything, you would rather rely on yourself.  Simply refusing to believe God is real without doing the home work is the way man is.  We choose to believe what we want, nobody is going to tell me what to do.  Pride is what hurts us the most.  Humble yourself and be amazed.

These are verses for ALL people.  Everyone can do good works.  Its the works that are produced from a repentant heart that pleases God.

    Just My Thoughts!

  5. Isaiah 64:6 But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.

7And there is none that calleth upon thy name, that stirreth up himself to take hold of thee: for thou hast hid thy face from us, and hast consumed us, because of our iniquities.

8But now, O LORD, thou art our father; we are the clay, and thou our potter; and we all are the work of thy hand.

9Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.

Good works don't save anyone, it's believe in God as our Savior that makes us clean.

  6. The bible was written by primitive, God-fearing men

It was not written by God, as he does not exist

Atheists do things out of compassion and the goodness of their own hearts

Christians do things because God "told them to"

  7. I hope it does, I know I'm a very good person, and I help whoever is at my reach of help, "help thy neighbor?", I do that everyday, everywhere, even my own business is to help people. [Financial Aid]. I don't mind not going to heaven for my believes. because I believe there's no life after death. But if your god truly exist and he's almighty as you said, then it would be his decision and upon that decision I will judge his benevolence.

  8. First of all, a Christian is the only 'one' that has the Holy Spirit living within them.  Romans 8:26 is speaking to Christians only, specifically for this reason.  The "groanings which cannot be uttered" are things that a Christian needs prayer for but doesn't know how to put it into words.  The Holy Spirit makes intercessions on our behalf, lifting a Christian's prayer up to the Throne Room of God.

Psalm 44:21, God searches out every heart, he knows every secret we have and he knows if our faith is truely anchored in Jesus Christ.

If Jesus and the Cross is not the object of our faith then our faith is worth nothing to God and we are not among His Church, the Bride of Jesus Christ.

No one can do any good unless it is truely in the name of Jesus Christ and the Will of God.  All our works are as filthy rags unless our eyes are on Jesus Christ and in His Name do we labor.

There are many decent people whose lifelong works will be for nothing if Jesus Christ isn't their Savior.

They are 'good' in man's eyes, but NOT in God's eyes.

The only way to be righteous to God is by putting one's faith in Jesus Christ and the finished Work He did at the Cross.

The fruit of many can be deceiving to man, but never to God.  Who receives the glory and thanks when one who is lost does something good?

  9. I don't take this as a "if one is true then all are true" situation, it isn't just the denial of God, but their corruption and misdeeds that make some people bad.  I don't think that's necessarily saying that all people who don't believe in God are bad, nor does it imply that all people who do bad things are Atheists, but simply that people that do all of these things are fools.

  10. Gods judgement on this will be complete.  Works or even attempting to be justified by the law will only bring us up short no matter how good we try to be.  The key element is always missing by intent, Christ.

As for "Christians" who do abominable works, God will deal with them also in His fashion because He does know their hearts and does know if they are His, or self proclaimed.
