Tech Help: Trouble Importing Video to WMM?

Ok, so my camera's a little whack and I can't upload the videos to windows movie maker. I don't really have the patience to sift through the manual and such. I get an error message, for example, "The file C:\Users\Norie\Pictures\New- From Camera\Aug 08\100_1197.MOV cannot be imported because the codec required to play the file is not installed on your computer. If you have already tried to download and install the codec, close and restart Windows Movie Maker, and then try to import the file again." The files are always in .mov format. Any clue what I'm doing wrong?

  1. http://www.free-codecs.com/download_soft...

    install that

  2. Try saving your video to windows media player. To do that rightclick the video, click properties, and then it should say somewhere change to, click that, then change it to windows media player. Then try to put it on.

Or if your trying to put it on streight from your camera to windows movie maker, when you first plug it in it should give a list of things that you can use other than wmm. Then after you get it on put it on wmm.

  3. Hi

You need to download the codec for windows movie maker , a codec is just a set of instructions for Media maker to understand the file .

Or just get a movie converter from here ,convert the file to AVI and just import it in to windows movie maker

hope this helps bye : )
