Tech3 duo Cal Crutchlow, Colin Edwards back on track at Assen – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 duo Cal Crutchlow and Colin Edwards are back on track for the upcoming Iveco TT Assen Grand Prix in Netherlands.
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider, Cal Crutchlow said, “I was happy enough this morning but the rain has made it easier for me. I think it would be really difficult in the dry, particularly changing direction in the fast chicanes. The last chicane is quite difficult
because you go from right to left and that is even worse on the shoulder.”
The Brit commented on his recovery status. Crutchlow said that his shoulder is still paining and he is taking every precaution to keep things smooth. The Tech3 rider Crutchlow was hitting good speeds but as a caution, he slowed down a little to position
himself behind Yamaha Factory rider Jorge Lorenzo in FP1.
The wet track conditions were a little helpful for the British rider as he struggled less to move the bike on the track. Comparatively, the dry conditions would have increased his shoulder pain as he is not in a position to suffer another crash in the season.
He is facing some problem in finding proper traction on his satellite M1 rear end and it needs improvement.
Colin Edwards, who scored a podium at Silverstone, is also paired up with his British teammate. His courageous performance shortly after a collarbone fracture brings him back for another likely podium.
At Silverstone, he was helped after a rain interrupted race day to score a third place. Now he and his teammate expect the same for the Assen GP as well. Crutchlow will also suffer from pain if the race day is held in dry conditions.
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider, Colin Edwards said, “I felt pretty good this morning after we came back to a setting that was similar to what we used to get on the podium at Silverstone a couple of weeks ago.”
Edwards was eighth in first practice session as there was little time after the heavy downpour and the second free practice session was cancelled after an oil spill during a Moto2 session.
