Tech3 rider Cal Crutchlow ready to hit the Estoril track – MotoGP Update
Cal Crutchlow of Monster Yamaha Tech3 team was also one of the riders like Dani Pedrosa and Alvaro Bautista, who underwent surgery during the long break between the second and third event of the 2011 MotoGP season.
Crutchlow is said to be perfectly fit to the racing conditions and will strike with full potential at the May 1 event of bwin Grande Premio de Portugal.
After the Japanese Grand Prix was suspended to later in the season on October 2, the Tech3 rider Crutchlow decided to have surgery to resolve his arm pump, numbness issue following the Spanish GP. The second wet-round victim and Britain’s sole rider in the
premier class to fall and loose his shot for a podium finish.
"I am looking forward to Portugal,” said the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 rider. “This is a new circuit for me and it will be difficult once again as the others know this track already and have a lot more experience on it than me.”
The stitches have been removed from his incision, but he has not touched the bike yet for riding purpose, on approaching Friday he will start his riding time at the Free Practice session prior the Portuguese Grand prix.
Crutchlow also added to his words, “I hope I can learn this circuit as fast as Jerez where I was quickly up to speed and I qualified inside the top ten. My arm is getting better and better after the surgery that was done to get rid of the numbness I felt
during Qatar and Jerez.”
The second round of Spain, Gran Premio bwin de Espana on Jerez circuit, gave a lot of points to discuss on the race panel for analysis by the race experts. The defending World Champion Jorge Lorenzo of Yamaha Factory team, had his first victory of the 2011
season, followed by Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa in second place and Ducati’s man Nicky Hayden in third place at the podium. With Lorenzo’s Jerez victory in tough-wet conditions and a second place finish at the season inaugural round on the Losail track,
gave the Spaniard the lead in the World Championship standings.
