Question:

Techer Recommendations for College?

Though I'm dropping Latin next year (my senior year) and I will probably never pursue it again in college, I want to get a recommendation from my Latin teacher. I have had her for 2 years and for this reason she knows me more than any other teachers do. Basically, the recommendation would be a very, very good one. My question is: is it a good idea to get a recommendation from this teacher even though I am not going to pursue Latin any longer?

  1. as long as you feel that she represents you in best way way possible and highlights your growth as a student over the years

if you can find someone else that would be able to do that, that is fine too.

if you know that your latin teacher will write you the best recommendation based on you as a student and an individual (characteristics, personalities), then you can go along with asking her.

  2. Go for it!  When I applied to my college, I used a recommendation from my band director even though I didn't plan on taking any music classes in college.  Seemed to work out ok for me.

  3. wait wat

  4. Yea, go for a teacher that knows you the best that would be able to write the most good things about you.  The college isn't going to know if you are taking Latin in college when they are considering your application.

  5. Most teachers will tell you up front if they will give you a bad recommendation and will pass.  Just ask, most teachers aren't out to get you.
