Technical computer question.... at least to me???

Ok... let me see if I can explain this and make a little bit of sense....

I have cable internet and lately have not been able to hear the music being played on myspace. Thought nothing of it.. not just one profile but them all. It will play the song and cut out a million times. Like it is trying to do the rebuffering thing. Then today I go to I-tunes to download some music and am trying to play the 30 sec example and it does the same thing.. has to constantly rebuffer the stream and often has trouble opening the URL for it? So then I decided to try downloading it... but it has been taking forever and not going through? My songs that are already downloaded are working just fine????

I have defragged the computer today plus did a disk cleanup of the C drive??? Any other suggestions would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!

  1. Call your ISP and tell them your issues.. Also try restarting your modem, the thing your computer/router connects into.. Just unplug it and plug it back in.

  2. Call your server and check which multimedia you have installed on your computer. You may need to up-grade it.

As you un-plug your modem re-start your computer and plug-in the modem at the same time to re set it.

I really hope this works out for out for you.

  3. It sounds like your internet connection is busy therefore any streaming audio (like both myspace and itunes use) isn't working because the data can't get through quick enough.

If you have any other programs using the internet or any other people who share your internet connection, they could be using up some of the bandwidth (the amount of data you can download at any one time) and therefore limiting everything else.

You might also want to try rebooting your cable modem as some of the older ones need a reset every so often.

I hope that helps. Good luck.

  4. use ccleaner to clean all temp files, files in recycle bin, cookies, registry entries and many more files which are created by windows but are no-more required... download the software from ccleaner.com ( free for life). Mannualy delete all files in your "Temp" folder & in "Temparary internet files" folder located in C:\Documents and Settings\userName \Local Settings. Delete all files in "temp" folder in c:\windows. Google "Trend Microw" to do  virus check& removal. These should make your computer faster. If you can, do 'System Restore' to earlier (date when things were ok) and reloading of  "windows"

  5. The first thing to do is to run anti-spyware scans on any machine in your network. This will ALWAYS slow you down. If your network is wireless you need to be sure nobody else is stealing bandwidth, this requires encryption on the router. After the spyware scan I would try removing power from your router and the powering up again after 30 seconds. This may help as its' routing table may be clogged with junk.
