Just aqquired these excelent French speakers which from my reckoning are the biznizz ( Listened to them in a store, not Hifi store so have no idea what amp was connected at the time ! ). Would my old but still funcioning very well Technics amp do for now (as I am on a budget ) until I get another / new amp ?

If so, what OHMS setting should be used for correct sound in/output rating / impedance ?

Many thanks from a would be hifi buff..!

  1. From what I have found on these fine sounding speakers, the impedance is 8 Ohms (which is the most common, and virtually amp friendly to all amplifiers), so your amp should be set to drive 8 Ohm speakers for best results.

RULE OF THUMB:  The speakers should say (on the rear, near the speaker wire terminals) what their "Nominal Impedance" is.  Just adjust your amp to that setting and you should have sweet sounds.
