I've been looking on the internet, but I can't find anything that explains different tactics for using a knife or knives for defense. I'm looking particularly for techniques against a sword, so any websites or suggestions would be helpful. :)

  1. A knife is not a defensive weapon, it's an offensive weapon.

If you are learning a martial art, ask your instructor or sensei. You cannot learn fighting techniques over the internet.

If you are attacked with a sword your best defence would be a chair or stool, used properly.

    EDIT:

If a sword were to be flying at me from above I would not attempt to catch the blade between two knives. This would immediately occupy BOTH of your hands, making it almost impossible to defend against a secondary attack. The correct defence in this case would be to sidestep, leaving both hands and both legs free for defence, attack or escape.

  2. Why are you looking for defense... knife tactics?

Are you expecting someone robbing your house to be wielding a sword?

    WOW.  Youre answer is simple.

Build a moat, obviously.  Haha I'm just kidding um, i really don't know anything else except for how to throw knives, look up distance throwing and how to hold it it will teach you to know how to grip the knife depending on how far away you are because of how many times it will turn and stuff.  Its pretty cool to play around with too.
