  1. hmm...well, obviously as you've laready mentioned the video ref. This year they have much more power than they've ever had, they can rule on strips, obstructions, knock-ons and not just restricted to tries anymore.

the only other thing I can think of at the moment is the yellow balls they use in the NYC. So they can see the ball on the try line, I think's the idea. lol.

  2. I agree with Rob. A transmitter in the ball would be useful in afl to know if it was a goal before it was touched and in nrl to know if it crossed the try line or dead ball line. Of course you need a transmitter in the ground as well. There has been a call in soccer to include this for those times when the ball crosses the  goal line but is quickly cleared.

Certain players swallow micro chips now so the coaches can see how many yards they run.

  3. I also believe that one can say the venue of the game itself is improving, since the fields are better maintained and are actually flatter now than they were.

As every one has said, the major improvement is the video ref, but he is almost being used ot much these days.

It could also be argued that the rule improvements have benefited the game, but that is debatable.

  4. More detailed half time stats

  5. apart from what others say I recon the ball and the uniforms old ball were leather and or pig skin and heavy now it is synthetic which is much lighter and handles alot easier and for the uniforms they are a dry glide material compared to heavier cotton fabric

  6. What about a transmitter in the ball that could be sensed by some sort of lazer device that would always always show a beam 10m away from the ball (so it would be easier to spot onside/offside players.) or it could be linked to a machine gun that would shot dead anyone in an offside position.

I'm not sure about the latter part yet.
