i have a problem with my camera and its memory card. you see each and every time i transfer pictures it creates a folder of its own. how it happens? i don't know! it irritates and frustrates me because the pictures are no longer in order!

the folders are created when i turn of the camera. of course, after i take some pictures i turn off the camera. lets say, before i turned off the camera the picture is from 001-0012. but when i turn it on again and take some more pictures the picture's number goes back to 001-0012 or more. aaarrrrggghhhh! help! how will i solve this? what will i do? hope that you can understand what i am trying to say and ask. please!

  1. Check your camera manual.  Usually, there's a menu setting to allow for "continuous file numbering."  Otherwise, the numbers will restart and you'll have duplicate numbers.

  2. It is a bit hard to tell you what to do since I do not know what camera you have or how long you have had it. If it hasn't done it before, and its been many years, your backup battery might have died so you will have to get the battery replaced. It should not cost too much since its usually a watch battery. If this is new or has always done this, read below.

Check to make sure your camera doesn't have the setting to reset the file name. Keep in mind, there are variation between manufacturers and even within their own lines. The basic idea is to look for file/setup/file setup and then look for file and see if it is continuous. I won't be able to give you all of them but here are some of the most common cameras.

For Canon cameras, its under setup (wrench/hammer) - continuous.

For Sony cameras its under Setup 2 - File Number - series or reset

For Fujifilm  cameras  its under mode - setup - frame number

Casio - setup - file numbering

These are only a few cameras but you get the idea for the menu. I hope this helps.
