Ted Hankey ready for U.K Open debut, keep it cool Hankey!
Ted Hankey is the latest entry in the PDC (Professional Darts Corporation) and the U.K Open. After giving 8 years to BDO (British Darts Organisation), the 44-year-old darts magician has finally graced the PDC for a new beginning in his darts career.
Hankey turned professional in 1994 and gave the world the best of darts. His level of play is extremely entertaining and his entry at PDC will embark a new era for his career.
His performance at the BDO major events has been impressive. His best form was seen when he won the World Championship twice in 2000 and 2009.
He has been a semi-finalist in the World Masters 3 times, and reached the quarter final of World Darts Trophy in 2004.
Hankey has been a notorious figure in the game of darts. His aggressiveness has been the main hurdle in his progress towards playing competitive darts.
The 2008 BDO World Championship saw a different side of Hankey. During his play-offs, he complained about the crowd numerous times and stated it as a disturbing factor, considering his play.
The very day he punched the dartboard which was considered offensive by the match referee and he gave Hankey a warning for his misconduct.
He was also observed playing under the influence of alcohol numerous times and was advised by his fellow dart throwers not to behave in this manner. However, he did not learn and at the BDO International Open, aggressively threw the darts on the board.
This behaviour caused him to re-think about his future as a professional darts player. The past has been tough for “The Count” and it is gone now.
Hankey is making his return in the U.K Open and is looking promising. He is among the most respectable players to enter the PDC and the U.K Open.
With a few discipline issues taken care of, Hankey can easily outshine everyone and make his official comeback with a bang.
To compete against names like Phil Taylor, James Wade and Adrian Lewis, “The Count” must bring in passion, precision and focus to outshine the world’s best.
The U.K Open will define Ted Hankey’s PDC career and his future as a darts player.
