Ted Potter Jr. gets in the field of Arnold Palmer Invitational – Golf News
The PGA Tour Rookie, Ted Potter Jr. will be featured among the 120-men field of the Arnold Palmer Invitational at the Bay Hill Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, after Bo Van Pelt withdrew from the event to give him the chance as the first alternative.
Potter was also the first alternative in last week’s Transitions Championship. He did not get a chance to play the Transitions because of no withdrawal call from any player in the event.
However, this time he was lucky to have received an Invitation on Tuesday evening to appear at the Bay hill to display his game.
This also gave him a chance to play in the event that is scheduled at a venue that is close to his home among all the tournaments on the PGA schedule.
Potter looked happy after receiving the invitation and said that he was not expecting the letter to come.
Moreover, it gave him the chance of playing against some big names of the world of golf like Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, Jim Furyk, Phil Mickelson and many others.
So, it will be a good platform for him to learn from the senior players while displaying his own game on the course.
Potter has succeeded in making five cuts in the eight events he has played so far in the 2012 PGA Tour season.
His best finish came in his debut PGA Tour event, Sony Open, when he finished tied for the 13th place on the leaderboard.
He has failed to impress his fans since and has never listed his name among the top-25 in the tournaments he played afterwards.
During the Puerto Rico Open, he tied for the 48th position. However, the only thing that favoured him was his equal and under-par scores throughout the tournament.
Therefore, Potter is now looking forward to making a better finish in the Arnold Palmer Invitational to improve his record on the PGA Tour.
Meanwhile, the legendary Arnold Palmer is upset about the absence of some big names such as Luke Donald, Rory McIlroy, Martin Kaymer, Lee Westwood, Steve Stricker and Charl Schwartzel from the event.
