Ted Potter expected to perform in 2013 after a dream debut
American Ted Potter is one of the players to watch during the upcoming season.
In a recent analysis, Potter was placed at the 94th position among the players who are expected to make a positive impact on the 2013 golf season.
In the FedEx Cup playoff standings of his 2012 rookie season, the American star was at 93rd
place. The ranking is in line with the analysis, which makes him a probable candidate to make a mark on the Tour as the season begins early January.
Potter played magnificently during his rookie season. He clinched the Greenbrier Classic, beating the odds, as well as the likes of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson, to get his name engraved on the trophy.
The tournament was basically a highlight of his season, other than this performance, the rookie only managed to claim one more respectable finish.
During the course of the season, the American golfer missed 12 cuts out of the 25 starts that he made.
As a rookie, he had outplayed himself during the season. With a 52nd-place finish in the driving accuracy, Potter has shown what professionals failed to do.
He was 62nd in the money list and was one of only a few rookies to have managed to win a title. In total, four rookies managed to win an event.
Fred Albers of PGA Tour Radio said, “Potter's win in West Virginia was one of the pleasant surprises of the season, as well as a possible sign of stronger showings this season”.
He continued, “I don't think of his win as a fluke and expect a solid year out of The Wizard in 2013”.
Golf analyst, Rob Bolton, did not have the same pleasant words for the rookie. He said that Potter failed to accumulate on his win during the previous season and failed to finish the rest of the year with a single title.
His prediction regarding the performance of the rookie in the next season was a bit hazy, as he said that it will be tough to make any conclusions right now.
He continued that after seeing what he did in the 2012 season, he was still unsure if the rookie will be able to make an impact on the Tour.
