Teddy Bear Hampsters vs Black Bear Hampsters?

whats the difference between teddy bear ampsters & black bear hampsters? is i just the colors?

Nope. They are both Syrian Hamsters, which is the largest of all hamster species, pet stores give them different names. Only true difference is a "Teddy Bear" hamsters is long haired and a Black Bear hamster is short.

I had quite a few teddy bear hamsters before and they seem shy, but not quite as timid as black bear hamsters.  My little brother owns one right now and it always walks around like it's half having a heart attack.  It nips at people and jumps a lot.

Teddy bear hamsters can get bigger, they have longer hair, and they're (in most cases) more gentle.  They don't seem to mind being held while my little brother's hamster is fairly fast and always tries to get away from hands.

I've had both and they're pretty close to the same.  Black bears tend to be just a little bit larger on the whole but not by much and the fur is a bit different feeling.  As for personality, I haven't noticed much of a difference between the types - they're each their own little critter and I've had independent teddies and cuddly bears - it really just depends on the individual critter and the treatment it gets.  They both seem to live about the same length and I haven't noticed one kind being more prone to wet tail or tumors then the other.  I've got a personal weakness for black bears myself but that's just because I get such a kick out of knowing, deep in their heart of hearts, that every time they stand up on their little back feet and look around that they're really thinking -

'rrrrrrrrrrrraaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrow'

Yes its just the color...They both come from the Syrian Hamster breed like most hamsters breeded/sold in the USA
