Teddy Bear Hamster Question?

I cut my teddy bear hamsters fur. I only cut some off of his butt and from his sides. Will he be okay? The fur is a little uneven but will it grow back? Will his fur grow back to be as long as it was before?

He is a male teddy bear hamster. I did cut much off but his fur was getting kkind of ratty looking.

Help?

  1. It's perfectly fine... it should grow back. Nothing will happen to him, no worries =).

  2. you shouldnt cut it but i think it should be fine..

  3. We do it all the time to our Hammie....just be carful  where you cut....the skin pulls easily with the fur and you can accidently cut more than you bargained for.....Did this accidentally once...poor thing actually screamed....felt so bad I think I cried.....he did heal up fine and lived to a ripe old age...but I am sure he had a scar somewhere under that fur.

  4. Yes, his fur will grow back.

To keep his fur from getting matted and ratty looking, use a baby brush and gently brush his fur each day.  You can buy a baby brush at Wal Mart for around $1.00.  Just look in the baby aisle where they sell shampoos and body washes for babies.

  5. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!...

  6. I've owned a few of these adorable little creatures ~ how in the world did you get it to hold still long enough to cut its fur?  Anyways, the little guy will be fine.  His fur will grow just like any other animal's fur would grow back.  Perhaps try brushing him with a baby toothbrush.

  7. A hamsters hair is just like a humans hair. Next time don't do it though because the hamster will clean and detangle its own hair if its irritating him/her or in the way. if its the winter put 3-4 non lotion or regular tissues in there and if he wants it he'll use it and if he doest keep it in there because its there if he needs it. and if its summer do the same but put 1-2 tissues in there. by the way shred the tissues to prevent him swallowing the tissues while trying to break it up on its own.    Good luck Bye.
