Teelin Star aiming for the career hat trick in the Racing Post Champion Point-To-Point INH Flat Race at Fairyhouse
The Racing Post Champion Point-To-Point INH Flat Race scheduled for Monday, 9th April, has been able to attract a highly capable lineup of sixteen four to six-year-old thoroughbreds. It will be raced over two miles and two furlongs at Fairyhouse while the purse is worth €29, 750.
There are three on the lineup who are up for their seasonal debut while the majority has already bagged their first victory of the season.
A candidate with an unbeaten record through the two career starts is Teelin Star, Beneficial’s six-year-old bay gelding out of mare Glenarb Molly. Both the races welcomed him as the favourite and had him paired up with J. Sweeney.
He was victorious in the McCarthy Insurances & The Butchers Bar, Kilworth 6&7 YO Geldings Maiden (Division 2) on 4th March at Kilworth over three miles. Teelin Star was the 4/7 favourite against Sherreb who is an exception when it comes to races over three miles. That tends to be the distance that Sherreb specialises in.
Coming at terms with the third slot behind the winner was Daintydavey.
After almost two weeks, the six-year-old captured the second start of the season in the Gerry Okeeffe Sawmills Winner Of One 4YO + (MDNS EXCL) on 18th March at Lismore over three miles.
Teelin Star yet again put an expert over the three miles distance at a disadvantage by shoving him to the second position. Truckers Banquet settled right behind the winner and the third one to follow in line was Mistletoe Cottage.
Teelin Star is in for the third start of the season with highly inevitable chances of claiming the race and striking a hat trick that also through the very first three starts of the career.
Surprisingly, all the three entries who are to race their seasonal debut were successful in their final races of the previous season. Having not raced since then means that they are well rested and can turn out to be potential threats for the rest of the lineup.
Hinesight is another capable entry who was entered as a favourite straight thrice but had to be brought down in the most recent start, how he avenges the failure, is yet to unfold.
