Teelin Star confident about the McElligotts Tralee LTD., Mercedes Benz INH Flat Race
The strongest entry for the McElligotts Tralee LTD., Mercedes Benz INH Flat Race is the P. Hughes trained, Teelin Star. The six-year-old cracked into the racing career on 4th March, 2012 at Kilworth over three miles in the McCarthy Insurances & The Butchers Bar, Kilworth 6 & 7YO Geldings Maiden (Division 2).
The favourite entry swept the field of ten while riding with jockey, C. J. Sweeney. Finishing the race right behind the winner was, Sherreb.
Today Beneficial’s bay gelding has to race over two miles and four furlongs at Listowel. The €6,900 prize money has attracted twelve five to seven-year-old contenders who will take their chances on the heavy surface.
The next stop for the J. J. Hughes owned was in the Gerry Okeeffe Sawmills Winner Of One 4YO+ (MDNS EXCL) on 18th March, 2012 at Lismore over three miles.
The favourite entry became prominent right at the beginning of the race, he did make mistakes with six furlongs remaining, and then four more to go, despite that he could take care of the reeling in rival, Truckers Banquet.
Making peace with the third position was, Mistletoe Cottage.
Just when it was time to strike a hat-trick, and that too from the first three career outings, the Irish bay gelding turned out to be a bitter disappointment. He ended an unfortunate eighth in the Racing Post Champion Point-To-Point INH Flat Race (Geldings) on 9th April, 2012 at Fairyhouse over two miles and two furlongs.
Teelin Star was paired up with jockey, Mr. C. J. Sweeney.
The race was won by, Rogue Angel, who defeated Balnaslow, by a short head’s distance.
The two furlong increase in the distance in the race today is expected to help the Cathal McKenna bred to swing back into form and give a hard time to the rest of the contestants in the race.
He will race with the same jockey, and needs to look out for, Sam Da Vinci, who is expected to perform strongly and with determination which will get him placed in the race today.
A keen check on the level of competition will aid a smooth trip.
