Question:

Teen Tonsillectomy: Food Tips?

So I am a 15 year old girl who has the same results as an adult tonsillectomy instead of a child one. I am really, really hungry, but swallowing is hard, and I need some nutrition (not just popsicles, but those are hard to sallow as well). Any tips? Food suggstions?

  1. I had my tonsils out less than a month ago, and I'm 19. It can be a tough time. Try not to eat too much sugar or dairy, those increase mucus making it even harder to swallow. Try broth, like chicken broth, as long as its been about 3 days since your surgery. For the first few days I remember being quite out of luck with food- I just drank water. Its a good sign that you're hungry though, it means your body is healing and behaving normally in that sense. :)
