Teen going to the pool - need advice?

Question

Hi i'm a 15 year old boy from australia and in a few weeks time when a close friend gets back from overseas a few of my friends are going to to the pool to celebrate

One of the girls dad owns an investment unit in a complex and there is a nice pool and steam room so we are going there, we previously went there and the 2 boys (including me) wore board shorts and one of the girls wore a bikini, one wore a 1 piece and one wore a tankini with board shorts

Since i lack in self confidence and this is something i want to improve on, i thought of wearing my speedos (as for school we have to have them) there. although i know the girl coming back wouldnt care, i dont know about the other 2 girls and what the other boy would think.

could someone give me some advice, also i fear that it may become a tad awkard in the steam room and it may become a topic of discussion why im wearing speedos

You're probably best to wear normal board shorts.

eew sorry its just in my opinion a guy wearing like a baggyish swimsuit looks SO much better than a guy with a speedo...there actually really gross

Just wear some boardshorts.

Not many men in America wear Speedos unless they're at a swim meet.

it really depends on whether your more comfortable wearing boardies or "budgie smugglers"

Is it common for men to wear Speedos in Australia?

If it's like Europe, where everyone wears speedos, then go for it. If it's like America, where men only wear them if they are at a swim meet or if they are European, then don't. There's better ways to be confident than to wear revealing swimwear.

In my opinion (I'm from melbourne) I would suggest you wear boardies. They just look so much better on a guy. I know speedos are meant to be an aussie icon but seriously- they're called budgie smugglers for a reason hahaha

There are other great ways of gaining confidence. Have you thought about joining a drama / theater group? One of my male friends really lacked self confidence and his mum signed him up for a youth theater group. It's helped him so much, he really has gained so much confidence.

DO NOT WEAR SPEEDOS!!  THEY ARE AWFUL!!  should be against the law- when talking to a guy wearing them u never know where to look...  very embarasing, especially cos the crowd u are with are young too.

Definitely the board shorts. They look so much better. Speedos just make you look about 8...plus they're quite reveling. If you don't have much confidence, you sure you want that?

Board shorts will look alot better. You'll blend in much more, especially if the other guys will be wearing them.

i think you should wear the board shorts. you cant go wrong!

if you wear the speedo, they might think its wierd, but board shorts are good either way!
