  1. It's basically not true. Only because people live so long now, and the fact that many individuals in the industrialized world are starting families later, is this even considered to be an issue...

30,000 years ago, most Cro-Magnon "cave people" didn't live past age 25, so if women didn't start giving birth shortly after reaching the age of menstruation, our species may not have survived...

  2. Because expectations have changed over the years.  In the past, it was considered normal to get married and have children in your teens because people did not live as long or pursue as much education.  Now it is expected that you graduate from high school, go to college, get married, become finanically stable and THEN have children.

  3. There are SO many ways that a research question can be addressed.

Be able to answer the: who, what, when, where, and why of any research question.  After that, be able to answer any question that might be presented to you.  Always be very prepared for anything.  Make sure you know what you are talking about....and be confident to the best of your ability.

  4. A good way to research it would be to go out and talk to teens, both parents and non-parents, and ask for their perceptions. After all, they're the ones who'll know the most about it. Study the trends from previous decades to gain an insight into how the social norm has changed and why.
