Teenage friend wants to meet boy online?

Question

My friend wants to meet a guy at the mall. They met through some chat website. She is looking for a casual hookup and he is too. She told me they are probably going to go in the dressing rooms to make out, or something like that. I honestly don't know what to do or what to tell her. At first she insisted on going alone but I told her I have to go with her. I told her he might rape her, and she didn't seem to care. She just is desperate and looking for any guy. I don't know if I should butt out or stop her or what. If anyone has any advice on what I should do, then answer.

Oh and I am 16, she is 15 and the boy is supposedly 15.

Well if she insists on meeting up with this guy, the mall is actually a good choice. Very public, so he can't rape her unless she leaves with him. If I were you I would let her do this, and just give her advice that if she starts feeling weird to call someone asap, and don't be afraid to scream!!!

My best friend insists on meeting up with guys all the time she met on-line. She already has her mind made up, and there is nothing I can do. So I just pray the whole time she makes it home alive. By all means do your best to talk your friend out of it, but it sounds like she has her mind made up. Why put yourself in the middle of this? She has a cell right? If nothing else bring another friend and stay close by!!

You are absolutely right.  She could get date raped.  You are right to discourage her from doing this--especially since she wants to go off somewhere and make out with him right off the bat.  Does she have an older sister or someone older who she looks up to?  Can you talk to that person and together talk to her again?  I know you don't want to rat her out, but I think maybe if you have another person your close to back you up, that might help.

We talked about this in school this year.

My advice,is if she says she wants to go alone,still go with her.Not like,ride with her,but follow her and make sure if he does try to rape her or anything,you can see it,and report it to a trusted adult.

Does she have any proof he's REALLY 15?

He could be like a 40 year old perv. trying to get a girl.:/

Okay. This is hard. I know your friends situation. I know your situation. Its sticky. Don't believe everything you hear. EVERY PERSON YOU MEET ONLINE IS NOT BAD. Yes, there are bad people, BUT, there ARE good ones with HONEST intentions. If this guy is telling her he wants to hook up, that's probably what he wants to do. Its really good if your friend has been talking to this guy for a while and trusts him. She should have seen at least 4 pictures of him, and talked to him on the phone a LOT. Obviously things can go wrong, so if she completely insists on going alone, make sure you know information about this guy. Age, Name, Address, Phone Number, And have a picture of him SAVED somewhere, don't just rely on myspace or something, he can delete the pictures. Dressing rooms are a bad idea, btw, the people monitor them way too well, and they'll probably get caught and in trouble.

If ANYONE is going to meet ANYONE online then they should make sure that they meet in public with all people around, so its safe, not in an area where theres no one around. Better to be safe than sorry.
