I am 16 and was just wondering if anybody knows how someone my age could tryout for pro baseball? I don't care if it's independent or not. I know on MLB.com it says 16 and older can compete in open tryout camps. So I was wondering if you or anyone you know thats underaged has done this or not? Im curious because after middle school I became home schooled using a private schools course for academic reasons but Ive always loved baseball and while I played Little League 9-15 I was the best in my league. Ive started practicing with wood bats since and thought that it might be fun to try whether I am good enough or not. If anyone has any other suggestions for trying to get into pro baseball such as baseball academies etc that you know of or did yourself Id apprecciate it.

  1. Try going to a minor league try out. They would probably be your best bet. Good luck to ya and if you make i hope you do well

  2. I don't know where you are from or if there are any minor league teams around you. But around here the Lowell Spinners have open tryouts, they're a single A team. If there are any single A teams around your area look into that I'm sure the Spinners aren't the only team to do this.

  3. Joe Nuxhall played for the Reds at age 15, but that was during World War II. You could probably try out for the MLB. Good luck!
