Teenando flies to victory in Rewards4Racing.com Handicap Chase at Carlisle
Teenando danced his way to a convincing triumph in the Join Now At Rewards4Racing.com Handicap Chase, hosted by Carlisle on Monday, February 20, 2012.
The rest of the line-up was helpless in front his furious speed, as Sue Smith’s trainee sealed a comfortable victory.
The 2-mile 4-furlong race commenced at 16:10 (GMT). Eleven speedy contestants took part in the Class 4 meeting and the ultimate champion grabbed a purse worth of £3,054.06.
The going was heavy but that didn’t cause any problem for Teenando. He made a fine impression by leading the race right from the beginning. At the sixth fence, he lost his advantage for a few moments but the 12-year-old reacted strongly to establish his
dominance once again.
After regaining a decent lead at the eighth hurdle, the experienced gelding did not look behind, nabbing an easy 9-length success.
After a few ordinary performances, it was a welcome triumph for the veteran horse. The rest of the pack tried hard to match his speed but Sue Smith’s horse maintained an upper hand all the way through.
The second place was seized by Domoly, trained by Ferdy Murphy. The nine-year-old held up early on and as a result he lost his chances to take an early lead. Despite showing a good run after that, the gelding was unable to overtake the leader.
The jockey, Lucy Alexander made an all out of effort to bring things under his control but nothing worked in his favour. Consequently, an embarrassing defeat went to the French horse.
Et Maintenant narrowly missed the runner-up position. After failing to show an early pace, the 10-year-old perked up his speed and became prominent.
However, his pace was not good enough to trouble the top two. As a result, Lucinda Russell’s gelding finished three quarters of length adrift of Domoly.
Playing The Field, who was the 4/1 favourite, collected a lot of humiliation, finishing seventh on the table. Under Denis O'Regan, the seven-year-old held up towards the rear.
He quickly enhanced his speed but a massive blunder at the eighth fence eliminated all of his chances. Falling four lengths short of the nearest leader, David O'Meara’s could only hold seventh slot in the list.
