  1. I was in First Grade.

    I don't remember alot.

I was sitting in front of the t.v. and i saw the planes. My mom was on the phone, talking to people about it. I remember being scared because my brother & sister had just gotten home from a trip, and i knew they had gone on a plane. I thought they were on those planes.

I remember going to school late, but not wanting to go at all. Lots of kids weren't there that day.

We live about 40 minutes away from a major city, so theres planes over our house a whole bunch. I thought it was weird that night, sitting out on my porch, and there was none.

    Thats all i remember.

  2. I was in second grade, snack time. My teacher told us what happened, "If your mommy or daddy works here in Connecticut then everything is okay." Then I began crying because my dad worked in Massachusetts... afterwords I felt a little stupid buy hey. I remember my elementary school had someone sing the national anthem every Tuesday because that's the day of the week it happened.

  3. I was having my special birthday breakfast at home, because that was my 8th birthday. Then when I got to school we basically watched the news about it all day. And now every year our school has a moment of silence and they show this little video thing. That's about it. Oh and they also put the flag at half mast. A lot of kids in my class are all like, why do we have to do this, I mean, we're in Canada, but I think they're just being inconsiderate, I mean, the people who died were still people, Canadian or not. Honestly.

  4. I remember being in my parents bedroom on their bed in our old house, watching that. I was really sad because we were planning on going to New York, and that made me really scared! For so many years, I was so traumatized I couldn't go in 9/11 museum exhibits or anything. That was the day after my birthday too. My birthday is on 9/10.

  5. i was in 1st grade and my nrother was watching tv before we went to school and suddenly it happened and he yelled for me and my mom to get in the room and we saw it on tv. it was really sad. and we watched the news all day in school. my school doesn't really do anything which is pathetic.

  6. i was in 2nd grade in computer class playng my favorite game it was right before lunch and the school secoratary went on the loud speaker and was saying school was getting out early. then i remember going home and seeing it on the news. i live in P.A. so its kidda close to new york. im going into 9th grade btw.

  7. I was at my house watching  Barney. I was 6 at the time when all of the sudden " THE U.S. IS UNDER ATTACK! HIDE YOUR BABIES! SACRIFICE YOUR DOGS!" Of course I was scared and then when the picture of the Burning tower came up I got my mother and showed her. She freaked. She said,"Get the pets and siblings! We are going camping!" So we stay a little longer to watch the news on the towers and we see another plane fly into the other tower! And then screaming.

It was horrific. They showed people jumping out of the windows. They showed people running around on fire. It scarred me for life. We stayed until about 6 P.M. watching this when The Towers started to fall! We were done watching it. My school doesn't do anything because my school starts September 2nd. Our Family Watches the memorial on T.V. though.

  8. School;;First grade;;gymnasium. All of the students in my school K-3rd grade, were called down to the gym, the principals(***.and reg.principal) stood by a radio up on the stage. Mrs. Hosner, the principal, looked sad, I remember. She told us there had been a terrible accident. Then she had told us that there were planes flying, and they crashed into the twin towers, and that the twin towers were on fire and details like that. That day I got home, and the news station was on. I sat down on the couch and listened to the story about the twin towers. Later that day my sister went and found a video on the internet of all the people on those planes and in the twin towers. ]: And every year, the school holds a minute of silence, and say a prayer, and show the memorial videos on our T.Vs. Also over the intercoms we have a singer from our school sing the star spangled banner. Sad times. ]: ...

  9. I was in the 4th grade. I am now in 11th grade at jfk hs and jfk middle has a candlelight vigil every year. They have a couple people play taps, they raise the flag, light candles, and they have the chours sing patriotic songs. It is usually about 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours.

  10. I was in first grade... I actually went to school in downtown NYC, so once my mom heard she got me home just in case... my dad worked a couple of blocks away and saw it burning and everything. I remember that day really clearly surprisingly. The principal talked to everyone at the same time explaining that a plane had crashed into the Twin Towers (some of us knew what it was because we lived in NYC). After that I don't really remember what happened because I guess I was too busy thinking about my mom and the new baby so those are the only memories of what our school did and what happened that day.

  11. I was in school ,

    grade 1 ,

    During reading time ,

Then the teacher told up to gather around and listen to her and she explained to us what happened while a few of the kids were taken to visit their families because they had family that died .

Then my teacher looked at us and seriously said " This was horrible and I can swea it will happen again . "

I was so scared and I've been afraid of planes and airports ever since .

That was my least favourite teacher ...

Each year we have an gathering outside the school .

  12. I actually was living in Turkey, when I was 8. So it was happening while everyone was coming back from work. My mom walked in,from the store, and i told her the first tower had fallen, and she goes, No. There were no towers hit, it was the pentagon, I heard something about it in the store.... Sad day.

  13. I was in 1st grade and then it happened my whole school was on lock down the whole day.  Allot of kid's were sent home Early and my brother signed himself out (at my school once you're 15 you are old enough to do so) he tryed to sign me out but he couldn't and had to go home and my mom couldn't come get me because she was at work an hour from where we lived...I'm in 8Th grade now.

  14. I was in 2cd grade coming back on the bus from gym.Me and my friends were all laughing when we came into the school and my teacher was crying. We were all like what's the matter Ms.Wenzel and she told us that the twin towers got bombed. My old school has a moment of scilence. But this year i switched school and they didn't do anything

  15. I was at school when it happened

And when i got home form school it was on the tv and my dad was up the stairs so i just sat and watched because i wasn't sure what had happened

I'm from Scotland not america and i didn't really know what the world trade center was, but when my mum came in she explained

The next day in school there was a minute silence

And the year after it happened we had a minute silence but we haven't really done much since...

  16. im 22 now

at the time i was a sophmore in history class

they called on the intercom for a girl  going home

not even 5 minutes later they called another student

a teacher came running into the class saying turn on the radio

i just remember trying to get home to my brother & sister

since my dad worked out of state my mom worked an hour away

    i was stuck at school

a teacher who worked at the school took me, my friend and her cousins home (she lived three blocks from me)

i just remember wanting to cry

even til this day i remember everything exactly how it happened

they didnt do nothing after that

  17. Heya

My school had a minute silence. well it used to i dont fink it does anymore. i was at my friends house. and i walked up her flats stairs to see her dad on the computer (eyes peeled) and when me and cara asked what had happened he jus showed us the screen and it was a youtube video of what had happened.

    terrible what happened =[ x*x

  18. I was in 4th grade at the time.

And 9/11/01 was actually the first day I ever missed of school.

I woke up that morning and I felt like I as gonna die. I just felt like everyone hated me. My mom drove me to school and everything, but I refused to get off. She got so mad at me because she had a meeting that day, but I just DID NOT want to go to school. She took  me to the doctor. I was there when we found out what happened.

  19. i was in 5th grade ILA(English, reading and spelling) And all of the student we were called into the one building(two building at my school) and we were told we had to go home. At the times the planes hit the building my school says a hail mary each time(catholic school)

  20. I was in 2nd grade. My teachers husband who also was a teacher came in with this huge radio and started to tell us what happend. Of course we had no idea what was going on. But we were all scared. Then when we had to write in our prayer books we all wrote about what happend and hoped that nobody died. Or teacher tried to do research and tell us more about the building. But I was so afraid that a plan would crash in to our school.

Each year our school has a moment of silence.

    GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  21. I was in school first grade and it was just like any other normal day for me. Except when I got home my parents were watching the news and there were all these buildings blowing up on tv and I heard the reporter say people had died and that made me scared and sad. It still makes me sad- really sad to think that all these innocent people lost their lives in a cruel act of terrorism. Since some  children lost 1 or both parents in just the day of the attacks, and I felt so sorry for them. Wives lost their husbands, grandparents lost their children. Firefighters and medical crew died as well in the line of duty serving others.  It was such a terrible bitter day for the family members especially and even those of us who watched it at home. My school yearly has a moment of silence for those deceased on that very dark day, and I like to think about their lives and what they have sacrificed so that we could be here today.

  22. Well, that was a very overwhelming day for me..

    I'll tell you why:

During 9/11, I was 7 or 8. I'm turning 14 later this year. I'm getting ready to go to school.( You're wondering: why did she go to school so late.. its because my school was an elementary, middle, and high school put together). Anyway, we saw on the tv, that two airplanes crashed the towers. All I could think of was: Omg, my UNCLE!!!. My dad's brother worked in the twin towers. We called and called and finally got through to him. Luckily, he was out to lunch during that time. I thank God for that. But, I really feel bad for all those innocent people that got affected...

Btw: my uncle still lives in NY.. working as a computer engineer(he's AMAZING with computers) and is married. I love him so much!!! <3.

PS: my school has a moment of silence.. the principal talks. and we just think about that event on that day.

  23. I was in second grade at school. my school didnt tell us anything about it. they just told us that something bad happened the day after. we just had a normal day. i found out before most kids though because my dad used to  work in the city and he just managed to get home because they completley shut the city down. My parents told me the story. But usually my school has a moment of silence and thats about it.

  24. i was in kindergarten,i think.

since i live in the bronx, everyone in my school had to be evacuated.there was smoke in the air...and my mom's bf worked 1 block away from the crash.thankfully he was okay.

the janitor in my school,i feel bad for him.his mother worked in the building where the planes crashed.one of the planes crashed right into her office,so she died. :(

every year we gather outside and have a moment of silence.

  25. Wow, I found it really upsetting to read this question and all the answers.  God bless the person that had just moved and used to go to day care there.  There was a reason for that move....  I was just at home, in Minnesota.  We watched the news all day.  I remember being scared, and that my mom and dad had just gotten home from an airplane trip somewhere.  My mom was hysterical during the news.

  26. I'm 20

but i was in 7th grade for the second time...

my schools didn't do anything after that maybe on the year anniversary we had a moment of silence or somethin and prayed..i went to catholic school at that time but thats it.

  27. I was in the 3rd grade and our class was on our back from mass.  When we walked back to our school and got in our class room the principal just randomly said "its thousands miles away.  Nothing will happen to you.) Our teacher was confused so when she paged the office they told her to turn it on channel 3.  Then we saw it.  Really none of us knew how big of a deal it was.  We were only 8.

Every year we hold a ceremony in front of our school where we pay honor to those who died.

  28. I was a sophomore in High School at the time and I was at home waiting for my mom to pick me up and take me to school. She called from her cell phone and told me to go wake my dad up and turn on the news. "The world trade center is on fire" she said "a plane crashed into it".

  29. I was in first grade, sitting toward the back of the class. The teacher suddenly stopped class because the teacher next door came in and whispered something in her ear. None of us students knew what was going on, so we were all acting normal, talking, messing around. It was toward the end of the day so we didn't do anything else the entire day. My teacher turned on the news, but I still couldn't tell what was going on. When I finally got home from school, my mom was watching the same thing that my teacher was watching. I asked her about it and she told me about it. I was too young to understand it, really, but I was sad about the Twin Towers not standing anymore.

Now, I know what happened and I am half happy half sad about me being able to see something like that in my life time.

  30. i was in second grade out at recess and our teachers came out of the building with our lunches and told us we had to eat early because we were being dismissed because building in new york collapsed and people were coming to inspect our school to make sure it was safe.

now in school on 9/11 we dress in red white and blue and have a moment of silence in the morning after we say the pledge of aligence and we stop class to have moments of silence at the times when the planes hit the world trade centers and pentagon, and when the plane crashed in pennsylvania. we also spend a few minutes at the beginning of every class talking about where we were when we found out and how our country has changed since 9/11/2001.

  31. i was in 3rd grade. they didn't tell us what happened but people were leaving school like crazy (i didn't realize why until a few years later). after school the tv had the news on and it kept showing it over and over.then my parents told me after school what happened and they told me not to tell my little sister. i didn't really understand it and i didn't understand why i couldn't tell my sister so i told her and she really didn't understand it. she was like 5 and i think her exact words were "so?". i live sort of close to an airport so i always hear planes at night and i remember years after it happened i would think about what if this plane hits my house? it is one of my worst fears acually. \

the next day at school our teacher showed it to us in the paper and talked to us about it.

every year my school has a moment of silence and our history teachers tell us about it.
