If you were/are on the pill, would/do you still use condoms as well? My friend, Hannah who is on the pill doesn't use condoms when she has s*x with her boyfriend. I, however, believe that even if I was on the pill, I'd still use them. What's your view? :)

  1. I have told my kids not to trust anyone else to protect you. Make sure that you always protect yourself and keep things double covered. I told them that it is important to remember that they are having s*x with everyone that has ever had s*x with that person. People get pregnant on the pill and condoms break. Most importantly the pull out method DOES NOT WORK.

Good luck to you and your friend. Be Safe

  2. I would only use a condom with the pill if I was wary of STD's, if it is her long term boyfriend then I wouldnt bother unless I was worried my pill wouldnt work properly for some reason, if I was on antibiotics or if I was sick for example.

  3. Yea you should definatly use a condom even if you are on the pill cause you could still spread sexually transmitted diseaes.

  4. i'd still use one just to be safe and the pill doesnt always work and you could get a disease or something

  5. you still should use them because the pill doesnt prevent against diseases and the pill still is not 100% effective so its better to be safe than sorry

  6. Well I too was stupid and was a teenager and would forget to take my bc and didnt always use condoms and ended up pregnant at 16. Everyone makes mistakes. But let your friend know you care and just be honest with her.The thing is though she has to take responsibility for her own actions and sometimes you just have to let it be.I pray she does keep taking bc and atleast be smart about that.

  7. yes you're right...becoz the pill only protects against pregnancy..not STD's....therefore it's VERY important to wear a condom aswell....tell your m8 straight away!!!!!!!

  8. No balloon, no party is right. Your friend is lucky she hasn't gotten pregnant yet.

My bf and I were as protected as possible (I was on the pill and we used condoms) and I still got pregnant.

  9. You can never have too much protection the pill dosen't alway's work

  10. you should, the "pill" is for not getting pregnant.

condoms are for not spreading DISEASES

  11. Hannah is a silly girl... I'm 28 and have never had unprotected s*x.. no balloon, no party.

  12. You are very sensible Emma and totally right.  There's so many different diseases going around it's best to keep yourself safe.

  13. Definitely. Double the protection and protection against STDs. Birth Control is not 100% effective, and it doesn't protect from STDs at all.

  14. yeah i would still use one you can catch stds and stuff

  15. Yes I use both. It's far too risky and so worth that little bit of extra effort. I've heard of so many people getting pregnant while using just the pill. Using both cuts the chances of falling pregnant to less than 1%. Also, condoms are the only form of protection that stop STDs. You're very mature and smart compared to your friend.

    ...

  16. Yeah i would use condoms too...you can never be too careful

  17. Obviously so, you can still pass STD's/STI's even if you are on the pill. Plus the pill isn't fully effective

  18. ye you could get desises and infections if you dont

  19. Yes, you should. You can still spread STI's if your on the pill but not using a condom.

  20. yea i would still use 1 just to be safe cuz theres less chance u will get pregnant and less chance of getting an STD...

  21. When I first went on the pill at 16 I didn't tell my boyfriend or subsiquent ones, that way we HAD to use condoms. The pill's good, but it can still fail, so I always liked having the extra safety net. That and the fact that condoms protect against STDs.

These days it's not really a problem, my fiancee knows I'm on the pill. We're in an exclusive relationship and are both clean for STDs, so condoms are more optional than they used to be. I still prefer them for the extra security, but I don't stress about it too much.

Then again I was a very responsible teenager, I did all the research long before I became sexualy active, and took full precautions. However I knew pleanty of young women who weren't so careful, who didn't do any researched, I knew one girl who confidently informed me that "Oh the morning after pill is 100% effective, so I don't need to worry if we forget condoms." she also thought condoms were 100% effective, and that the pill protected you against STDs. No amount of my attempts to educate her worked, in the end I dragged her to the school nurse and asked her, which finaly got the info into the girl's head.

It really rather scares me how ignorant many young people are. I feel if one is going to have s*x one should know all the risks and prepar acordingly. The only man I've ever had s*x with without a condom is my fiancee, and that was only after a long time together and STD screening for both of us.

  22. I personally would use both, but I'm cautious. The pill is more successful than a condom (with only 2% of sexual intercourses leading to pregnancy instead of 5%) but it doesn't do anything to protect against STDs, and the pill and condom together would make it almost impossible to get pregnant.

  23. Yeah i suppose you should use a condom even though you're on the pill.

But condoms are only 40% protective from STI's, because most of the contact happens before intercourse.

I don't use a condom but I am on the pill. Its a much better feeling.
