Teeth Of The Dog planning to steal the show in the Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga
If Union Rags had not retired, he would be making his way to the Haskell Invitational but, now trainer Michael Matz has come up with an alternate plan.

The Jose Singer owned, Teeth Of The Dog, will now represent horseman Michael Matz in the Grade 2, $600,000 Jim Dandy Stakes at Saratoga on 28th July, 2012 which runs over 1 1/8 miles.
Teeth Of The Dog, bred in Kentucky, does not lack talent since, he is currently on a hat-trick, which he is aiming to complete in this race.
The sophomore prevailed in the Grade 2 Dwyer Stakes at Belmont Park in June, 2012, so he is at the top of his game, where he broke through the wire a neck before Fast Falcon. Prior to that, he scored in the Easy Goer Stakes at the same venue on 9th June,
2012.
Both these races covered a distance of 1 1/16 miles, so the stamina of the three-year-old will definitely be tested. The runner has proved that he is versatile so it might be easy for him to adapt to this distance.
Over 1 1/8 miles, the son of Bluegrass Cat, out of mare Deputy Reality, broke his maiden at Gulfstream Park, as he efficiently completed the race in 1 minute and 51.03 seconds.
Michael Matz did not comment when Union Rags was retired, but is still disappointed by the owners’ decision.  The original plan was to take, Teeth of the Dog, to the $750,000 West Virginia Derby at Mountaineer Racecourse, but the retirement of Union
Rags has changed things.
Trainer Michael Matz made this decision based on the fact that, the Wood Memorial winner, Gemologist might run the Haskell, so running Teeth Of The Dog in this event is more feasible.
Teeth Of The Dog will be teamed with jockey Joel Rosario for the third consecutive time, and will break out from post position 6. He might have all the talent but, he will also need a lot of luck on his side to win this race.
Neck 'N Neck, My Adonis and Liaison will definitely give him a run for his money.
