Question:

Teeth whitening with baking soda?

I read somewhere that you can whiten your teeth using baking soda, salt, and water to make a paste and just brush your teeth with it. I need some more information and instructions on this. I would like to know all that you know. Thanks.

  1. Don't use too much or for too long because baking soda is abrasive.

  2.    1. Wet your toothbrush with cold water and dip it into baking soda. All of the bristles should be covered so that your toothbrush is white.

       2. Brush your teeth for five minutes (spitting if necessary) two times a day.

       3. Spit the baking soda toothpaste out and rinse your mouth clean with water. If there is a tingling or burning feeling in your mouth, this is perfectly normal. See "Warnings" for what might not be normal. And please always brush your teeth...

  3. It helps some, but only a limited amount. It will help remove surface stains but if your teeth are pretty badly stained, it won't make a really noticeable difference. If you want to try it to see how much good it is does, go for it, but if you're not happy with the results, try some teeth whitening strips. Listerine dissolvable whitening strips are the best because they have a nice mint flavor and you can put them on your teeth and forget them unlike the messy, nasty whitening gel or the Crest strips you have to remove.
