My daughter almost 7 months has 2 bottom teeth and has had them for a while now, yesterday she was coughing and sneezing and has a real runny nose. I think she is teething some more b/c she chews on her fingers lately but aside that is this a cold because of teething or should i take her to the doctor? Ive been giving her tylenol doesnt seem to do much for her. shes just been waking up at least 5 times in the night screaming .

Thanks!

  1. Poor thing,

It sounds like teething, for more baby info see the below link.

  2. cold.

teething can cause a little bit of extra mucus just because of saliva being swallowed. Nothing more than that.

  3. Congestion and coughing are definitely signs of a cold or virus in her system.  She more than likely is sick and just happens to be teething at the same time.

The thing with teeth is they surface and then recede, so they can take forever to finally pop through, causing your little on discomfort constantly.

I would bring her to the doctor, just to make sure it's not in her lungs and it is in fact just a cold that will work it's way out of her system.  You never know.  My oldest had a cold in April and it turned into pneumonia within just a few days, it happens so quickly.

If the tylenol isn't working, you can try giving her the infant advil.  It might help, if the tylenol isn't.  Also, my youngest always loved chewing and sucking on a clean wet cloth.  She still does this some days.

    Good luck!
