Teh Seu Bock says Lee Chong Wei is more mature and consistent now – Badminton update
Malaysia’s national coach for singles, Teh Seu Bock, says that Lee Chong Wei has elevated to a certain level of maturity in his game by working hard in all aspects of badminton. The coach appreciated the performance of the top Malaysian seed and World Number
One, Chong Wei.
The 28-year-old Chong Wei has clinched six titles in the Men’s Singles category, this year. He has lost only one match in the current year, where he lost to China’s Lin Dan in the final of the Korea Open Premier Super Series 2011. Apart from the only defeat,
Chong Wei has won all events he participated in.
Seu Bock said, “It has been a great six months for Chong Wei. He is more mature and more consistent.”
While talking about Wei's performance in the final match of the Indonesia Open, the coach said, “Chong Wei did well to approach the game differently today. He had more variety in his attacks and also managed to pull off his deceptive shots successfully.
But I am still quite surprised with Chong Wei’s easy win over Peter today.”
Seu bock expressed his views about Denmark’s Peter Hoeg Gade by saying, “Usually, Peter is the type who will never give up but I saw him pulling back in the second game.”
The coach said that Chong Wei and Peter Gade have faced each other on many occasions for the last many years and both players have always put up a good show of quality badminton. However, this time Chong Wei finished the game easily without facing any trouble
from Gade, who is World Number Five at the moment.
Seu Bock appreciated the consistent performance of Chong Wei and assured that he will help the shuttler in maintaining his current form. Chong Wei will be the top seed in the World Championships 2011, which will start from August 8, in London, England.
The top seed has a golden chance to clinch the Men’s Singles title in the world meet and become the first Malaysian to win the crown at World Championships.
