Teik Chai Gan, Soon Hock Ong make way into semi-finals of 2012 Yonex Dutch Open
Men’s Doubles experts Teik Chai Gan and Soon Hock Ong of Malaysia showed superb coordination and escorted their country to the semi-finals of Yonex Dutch Open on October 12, 2012.
They overpowered Yonathan Suryatama Dasuki-Hendra Aprida Gunawan in local badminton arena of Almere, Netherlands.
This quarter-final match prolonged to 49 minutes before ending with decisive figures of 12-21, 21-17 and 21-18.
The Malaysian duo had a horrendous start but both male shuttlers forged a fruitful chemistry in the last two games and earned right to be in the top four teams of the event.
In first set of the match, Yonathan Suryatama and Hendra Aprida enjoyed the upper hand from very first stroke and maintained their dominance until last shot was played.
They laid foundation of their supremacy by registering 6-1 total in no time and then magnified the impact with a mountainous figure of 11-6.
Later part of the game was also dominated by the Indonesian team who confounded the opposing shuttlers with a mesmerising show of badminton skills.
Yonathan Suryatama and Hendra Aprida made a steady progress and won first set with a notable lead of nine points in 21-12 margin.
However, it proved their last success in this tournament as the Malaysian campaigners stormed back with a strong reply.
Though, Teik Chai and Soon Hock took some time to come out of their challengers influence but they showed elevated craft to avoid a straight-set defeat.
In first half of the set, Yonathan Suryatama and Hendra Aprida pocketed full benefits of their first set win and kept the opposing team at the lower end until one-minute interval.
After the break, they made some unforced errors and allowed Teik Chai-Soon Hock to keep the contest alive.
The Malaysians earned five consecutive points after 7-11 and got into commanding position. They kept on playing with positive approach and won second set with 21-17 score on the board.
Teik Chai and Soon Hock did not lose this rhythm in the third set as they registered an overwhelming figure of 21-18 and secured a semi-final berth.
Now they will lock horns with Adam Cwalina-Przemyslaw Wacha of Poland to gain access to the title match.
