Teik Chai Gan and Soon Hock Ong bag Men’s Doubles title at Mauritius International 2012
Malaysia’s young shuttlers Teik Chai Gan and Soon Hock Ong showed their impressive class and bagged Men’s Doubles title after taming their higher ranked rivals Deeneshsing Baboolall and Yoni Louison of Mauritius International 2012 on Sunday, June 17, in
Mauritius.
Teik Chai and Soon Hock, who were seeded at number two in Men’s Doubles draw of the championship, were too strong for their top seeded opponents in every aspect of the game and remained successful in winning the battle in sensational fashion.
The lower ranked Teik Chai and Soon Hock showed their wonderful craft in the court and overpowered their local rivals in straight games in a lopsided contest by taking just 20 minutes.
The top seeded Baboolall and Louison, on the other hand, failed to cheer their home fans as they received a shocking treatment from their lower ranked Malaysian opponents and lost the battle with a humiliating margin on the score board.
In the first game, Teik Chai and Soon Hock did not take any time in setting up an impressive lead on the score board as they were in commanding position throughout the first half.
Until the mid-game interval in first game, Teik Chai and Soon Hock were miles ahead of their local challengers on the board.
After the break, the second seeded Teik Chai and Soon Hock continued their smooth sailing without facing even a slight interruption from their rivals and easily took the set with a killing margin of 21-9.
In the second set, Baboolall and Louison tried to play their normal game but failed to cope up with the impressive skills of their challengers and remained struggling to match the pace of rallies.
The local players were in poor form and remained trailing behind on the board until the break.
After the one-minute interval, Teik Chai and Soon Hock remained consistent in their elevated play and eventually grabbed the second game with a thrashing 21-10 score on the board.
The lower ranked Teik Chai and Soon Hock won this Men’s Doubles final with an impressive ease by a one-sided margin of 21-9 and 21-10.
