i recently signed up for telecom USA so i can call the Philippines without having to use a phonecard and having to deal with phonecard dillema (cons of using phonecard according to my telemarketer). I am not sure or might have forgotten what the rate per minute is when calling to the Philippines... and it does not show in my bill yet (since i just recently used it).

  1. We have MCI. and pay a special added fee to be able to call the Phil. for about 17 cents a minute on normal days, and I think 25 cents a minute on weekends.

  2. If I were you, think again before using Telecom USA any further.  Their posted rates to Philippines is: 45 cents/minute.

    That is very high!

They are a "dial-around" long distance service.  Most calling card services are just a variation on "dial-around" service.

What sets most dial-around services apart from calling card services is the fact that dial-around service charges are usually integrated into your current phone company phone bill as an add-on charge.  It is a convenient billing strategy for everyone concerned.

Usually, they are a good deal.  But, based on Telecom USA posted rates on their web site.... doesn't look like a very good deal to me....

Try Yak.  They are a "good" dial-around long distance phone service with good rates... maybe not the cheapest, but reasonable.  Their rate to Philippines is 21 cents/minute.

If you want to try a calling card, Pingo charges 13.8 cent/minute to landlines and 14.5 cents to mobiles in Philippines.

  3. Most Asian market like Lucky Seafood have those five or ten dollars cards card to the Philippines .Around quarter a minute.
