My phone was working fine yesterday, but when i went to make a phone call today i didn't get a dial tone. I tried my phone upstairs and I still didn't get a dial tone. Yet I have DSL and I am able to use it. I tested my line outside and it showed that the problem was INSIDE the house. Any ideas of what it could be or how to fix it?

  1. disconnect all the phones in your house.......then plug only one phone in.........if there is no dial tone....get a new DSL filter!  this is usually the problem here!!

  2. mine has done that too. for me it's when one of the phones wasn't hung up all the way, or it's not into the jack properly.

  3. You still have a landline phone.....Thats the problem.

  4. sometimes when you have a short ,you're dsl will still work even thought you don't get a dialtone. (it has to do with the way your line is split for voice and data) unplug  ALL your jacks including your dsl for about 2 min and plug back in. it should reset itself.

  5. Is your DSL Router a Wireless-G ?

Are you using 2.4 GHz cordless Phones?

If that were the case, then the Wireless-G devices may be interfering with 2.4 GHz phones.

If that is the case, power-off Wireless-G devices and see if phones will work then?

If that is the case, then try changing Wireless-G channels used.  There are 11 Wireless-G Router channels that can be used in case of Router interference problems.

Cordless phone issues can also be evaluated by substituting the cordless phones with a "corded" telephone.  If "corded" phone works, then it's likely a cordless RFI interference issue.

  6. Is the phone and electric line plugged in?
