  1. The person answering the phone only has to say "hello". The person who has called them then says, "Hello, this is (your name). Then say why you're calling." If you're calling a friend then the conversation goes on from there. If you're calling someone you don't know, then you will wait to see if they want to keep talking or if they're not interested. If they tell you they're not interested, then thank them for their time and end the call. This is for personal calls. The previous answer was perfect for business calls!! : )

  2. If you don't know them well, don't call. If you know them well, go ahead and call.

  3. Something like:

Hi Kinky, you're through to spread-legged-Sandra.

    Or so.

  4. I assume you mean not calling a friend?

    To call, something like

"Good morning/evening, my name is XXXXX from such-and-such-a-company." Then deliver your message, if it's a sales call, something along the lines of "Can we interest you in...."

    To answer:

"Good morning/evening, you're through to such-and-such-a-company, XXXXX speaking, how can I help?"

  5. The dialer

    than the listener
