My telephone exchange has a maximum broadband speed of 5mb. Is there anybody I can email to complain and ask them to update the exchange so I get faster broadband speeds?

  1. Phone the police, they'll get MI5 onto it and demand it be updated especially for YOU

  2. 5mb is a lot faster than most.  Stop complaining.

  3. They won't/can't increase the speed on current technology. ADSL is dependant on line length from your property to the exchange

  4. Not sure where you are in the world but is in the UK, 5 Meg is not bad, however you can do some things to try and improve it, (move closer to the exchange is one of them) but the more practical choice would be to disconnect your router for a 30 minutes, the reconnect, this will force the exchange to re evaluate the line speed, it will keep doing this for 24 hours and will then "set" itself to the best speed for reliability (dropped packets of data).

Warning - if the exchange "set" to a slower speed, it only looks every 14 days or so unless you force it to do so.

    Hope this helps?
