Telephone tracing?

I used the works telephone to get tunes for my mobile and the boss is going mad. she`s asked for the call cost (£15) to be put in her office or else she will take it further.

My question is - if she called the company could they give her the number of my mobile or what else could she do.

To call the company would cost her alot of money again i would think.

p.s if this is in the wrong section what section should i put it in?

  1. Why don't you leave the money in her office anonymously?

  2. i recon she can get the number, wich it was spent on

  3. For starters i think you have been very disloyal and if you were one of my employees I'm afraid you,d be out on your ear,

And yes she can take it further, she can apply for an itemised bill.and it would have your mobile number on it,if i was you id pay up that £15 as to not risk my job,

  4. Hi,

You boss could call the company and ask for the number, they however would not give it out, and it would not show on the bill (only the numbers called) show on the bill.

However, these calls can be traced, over time, if your boss puts here complaint in writing then the company MAY respond, the data protection act will not help you as some one has said as the data is being supplied to the bill holder (your company / Boss).

That would all be very long winded for your employer, and a simple change of number on your phone would lead them nowhere.

HOWEVER - you did not have the bill payers permission to make this call and as such you have committed an offence, and probably breached you employee contract at the same time, whist this is not a good position to be in, I personally believe that if you are up front, speak to your boss (maybe pointing out you did not know how much the call would cost) and offering to repay, you would probably find that this is excepted and whist you may not be employee of the month my guess is you will still have your job!.

I hope this helps and you get yourself sorted.

  5. You could have bought your boss a ring tone the same time couldent you she wouldent have felt left out then would she

  6. They wouldn't be able to give her the number because that would breach the data protection act. She would have to launch a police investigation to find out. If it's a pay as you go sim, change your name and address details with your phone company. Pretend that you sold it to someone else   LOL  otherwise post her £15 if you don't want the hastle. There is a slight chance it could cost you your job

  7. Yes, she can call the company & obtain your number, also pursue fraud charges as a result! NOT GOOD! Why do you think it would cost her anything to contact them? I don't think so. Why not pay up, and know not to do that from the work phone again, eh? Good Luck, do the "right" thing, dude!

  8. I hope you get sacked for theft because it's what you have done. If I was your boss I'd report you to the police as well.
