Question:

Television died?

I have a Mitsubishi television that i just bought from craigslist (which i guess i kinda regret, okay, i get it) a couple weeks ago.

I was on xbox for a while, and when I went to turn the xbox off to watch television, the xbox shut off but so did the television. When I try to turn it on, the screen remains blank but the power light goes on for about 3 seconds then turns off again.

Its a projection t.v. and prior to this, everything seemed fine.

I opened the back of the television to try and look at the fuse box, but got nowhere.

Any suggestions?

  1. If you just bought the TV, it should be under warrantee. If unplugging the TV for a while and plugging it back in doesn't reset it, then you need to call customer service. Also disconnect the Xbox, just in case that went bad and is sending a blank signal to the TV.

  2. I can only suggest you contact an Authorized Mitsubishi repairman in the yellow pages....

Or at least a TV repairman if you don't have any authorized servicers nearby....

Most of the time when the power light comes on for 3 seconds then shuts off, it's telling you that the deflection circuits aren't coming alive....and it's protecting the picture tubes from gettin a burn on it due to no deflection....

So your Vertical or Horizontal deflection needs repaired....

Could be the Convergence deflection too if it's shorted....

  3. There was probably a power surge. Try unplugging the TV for an extended period of time (an hour or overnight).
