Television was the best Christmas gift for Miami Marlins’ Mike Redmond - MLB Update
Miami Marlins’ manager, Mike Redmond, has described his Christmas celebration at-length, while giving an interview.
When he was asked about a best present received by him ever, he has mentioned the television which he got when he was just 12-years-old.
He has further discussed how he spends time with his family on that day and visits various places.
Redmond has expressed that he is fond of following traditions. According to him, the best part of Christmas is fulfilling rituals and watching the people doing so.
Irrespective of his desire to perform Christmas rites, he will be aware of the challenges ahead.
To manage the team, which lacks talented players and is passing through a transitional phase, is not an easy task.
The fact it is his first experience as manager of a Major League club means that the next season is extremely important for him, for profile building point of view.
His career as manager will be affected by the way he leads the Marlins in the upcoming season and makes use of their resources.
As far as his experience at the Minor League level as skipper is concerned, he has an excellent success rate. He will like to replicate it in the Major League.
While talking about Christmas related activities, Redmond commented with the following.
“You teach the boys what Christmas is all about, and what the spirit of Christmas is. The kids, they go to All Saints Catholic School in Spokane. Every year, we take a couple of families that are less fortunate. They have kids who make out lists of things
they want for Christmas, and the boys each pick a couple of kids, and we give them the opportunity to go out and fulfill those kids' wishes,” Redmond said.
The Marlins are one of those teams that will play the 2013 season with little hope of achieving any success. Their Minor League type of roster speaks volumes about it.
Making sure that players put up great performances and be at their potential will be tough for Redmond.
It will be interesting to see how Redmond carries out his job and tries to keep the Marlins on the surface in 2013.
