  1. You should get one if you are willing to invest the time and maintenance in them. They need to have their cage cleaned at least twice a week, have a big enough cage, proper diet, exercise, water changed every day, as well as a lot of interaction with them. These are not the kind of animals to have if your gone a lot from home. Or if you have a busy life just get two so the he/she doesn't get lonely. These are very loving pets that are intelligent, warm and affectionate. Go to Guinealynx.com the best website about guinea pigs to find out even more.

  2. Guinea pigs are fun animals. I have had one for a year. They are very personable and need attention. Mine is solitary so we make sure to give her alot of attention. They tend to get lonely easily if they are not in twos. They do eat alot. The one guy is right about them squealing when the fridge is open. Mine squeals very loud when we open it and she knows the sound of chopping vegetables so she squeals till she gets her spinach and carrots, etc. But they are alot of fun. Mine is like a lap dog when we hold her. shes so happy and doesnt bounce all over the place, she just sits there with you. Our guinea pig has become a great member of our household so if your looking into buying one i do reccomend it, especially if you have kids. Our piggie is actually my daughters piggie and they get along very well. They also live quite a while if they are taken care of which means cleaning out their cage once or twice a week, providing them with the proper nutrients, and love. Some can live 10 years but on average 5-7 years. so to answer your question they are worth buying.

  8. theyre ok.  I bought 2 from a pet store and they were scared of me.  I had to catch them to hold them, but once I did they were fine.  I gave them to someone that had the patience to work with them.  I wanted  a pet that I could hold more.
