Is it better to trust other people from the git-go (until they give you a reason not to trust them), or is it better to stand back cautiously and allow a person to earn your trust?

  1. Great ?  I would say a little of both is the way to go.  To explain:  Allow them to be themselves, and don't be quick to judge....have fun and get to know them.   At the same time, be smart and think (not overthink) about how they treat you, others (do they have lots of great friends and family?)  If you're smart, it won't take long to figure them out.  Initial things to watch out for:  obsessive behavior (they don't have anything else going for them, except hopefully you!); it's better to find someone who is just living their life to the fullest, taking care of themselves and is more into doing than talking about doing.

    That's it........

  2. Trust has to be developed over time or you'll experience many let downs.

  3. Why must it be an either or? Be yourself and allow others to determine their own opinions.

Most people are interactive and responsive which requires that we stop and evaluate if the  current approach is appropriate or not, you are giving up some of your values for public approval which is compromising your own question.

Again be the very utmost that you can be in any given situation and others will vie for the attention you define as trust.
