Question:

Tell Me If You Like This Idea To Make "The Chase" More Exciting...?

At the end of 26 races, when there's 10 races left, you separated the top-10 in points (like it use to be before they switched it to the top 12).

You give 10 point gaps from 1 to 10th to start out, so the leader in points after 26 races is rewarded by starting the Chase 100 points ahead of the last chaser in 10th, 90 points ahead of 9th, 80 ahead of 8th and so on.

And you grant 5 points for every victory they had in the first 26 races...to reward going for wins, so for example the 4th place chaser after 26th races who'd normally be 40 points down to the leader to start, instead, would be 25 points down if he had 3 wins and the leader had none.

Ok, now that you see how the chase points are set, here's the exciting part...after the first Chase race, whoever's in 10th in the chase, is ELIMINATED...after the 2nd chase race, whoever's 9th in points, is ELIMINATED, after the 3rd chase race, whoever's 8th, and so on.

EVERY CHASERACE, somebody will be fighting for their season!

  1. I don't like the idea of eliminating someone. Also, if we used that system, we would know the champion with one race still left.

beginning of 1st race-10 drivers remaining

    2nd race-9 drivers

    3rd race-8 drivers

    4th race-7 drivers

    5th race-6 drivers

    6th race-5 drivers

    7th race-4 drivers

    8th race-3 drivers

    9th race-2 drivers

    10th race-1 driver

As you can see, at the beginning of the 10th race there will be only one driver in contention.

  2. The chase is bad in the first place. You're penalizing consistent racers, simple as that.

  3. Nope, don't like it.  Doesn't seem fair at all.

    Go Jr.>>>>

  4. No Just getting rid of the Chase altogether would be the way to go.

  5. If you were to go in that direction... Id like more of a Formula One setting... if you get a DNF, you get no points....

But the Chase should be kept the same and the Chase contenders should be the only cars locked into the field.

  6. I am all for eliminations. Maybe every other race or something someone gets knocked out. Talk about drama every single week for the drivers on the bubble. I don't see why the drivers that are 8th on back should even get any kind of shot at the championship. It would not be right for a driver to sneek into the chase back in 11th or 12th place, get on a hot streak, and win the Cup. Doubtful it would ever happen, but it could.

  7. Falcon 16 said it best.

  8. i say they should ditch all their sill chase rules and just go back to regular racing like the OLD days

  9. I wouldn't use that point system with my slot car track. If your eliminated first, then what incentive is there to race the last 9 races? Would you be locked into 10th right there and then? Would you race 26 races to make the chase just to be eliminated completely in race 27? There can't be 10 drivers in 10 races because the champion would be determined before the last race started. Even if you have 9 races and only 2 people are racing for the Cup in the final race, how lame would that be?

  10. Here's an idea, let's shoot who ever came up with this ridiculous format and give Jeff Gordon the TWO championships he lost because of it!! That way all of the ignorant Dale Earnhardt fans won't have that little teeny tiny  string ( of seven championships) to grasp on to anymore that delusion-ally lets them "try" and claim that he was a better stock car racer than Jeff Gordon is!!!
